? about Canadian IMP Entrees

Post by DangerousDave » Mon Oct 16, 2006 5:49 pm

:?: Why do the Canadians contract entrees to Wornick, formerly CINPAC,(USA)for a good many of their entrees. I thought the Canadians had the best Healthcare system on Planet Earth. Why do they need us Americans to supply their combat ration entrees??? Maybe the Russians will be next. If I was a Russian soldier, I'd be very happy to get an Omelet with Mushrooms, or some excellent "Navarin" packaged by Wornick, Cincinnati. In case you want to know what Navarin is, it's Sheep meat stew. looks and tastes just like GI MRE beef stew. I like it, but the question remains. 8)

I would imagine it's $$$, hi volume = lo cost. I'm sure there was some 'Buy canada' in the begining, but they probably had to open up the bidding.
Or it could be taste. I've only had a few freddy chef entrees, and they were pretty bad.
Pick one (or both) :P

Whats wrong with Freddy? They still package a mean Salisbury Steak. If they can do that, what do they need us American Companies for. I'm not scared of Mad Cow, even though I'm not allowed to donate blood, cause I served in West Germany before the end of the chilly war. 8) (Oh, I ate beef in West Germany, for anyone with a ?)

hmm, as long as we don't see "made in China" printed on the MRE, IMP, EPA & other RCIR packs...

I guess the Russians must be happy with the "sausage/buckwheat" diet, that's typically what you can eat there
