MRE Menu 18 Beef Ravioli FIRST MRE (Thanks Elandil)

Post by Daley » Wed Jul 06, 2016 5:39 pm

Hey guys! Daley back here with my FIRST MRE review. HUGE thanks to Elandil for hooking me up with a real MRE I had a blast reviewing this one.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAK_5bu ... e=youtu.be

To start, the idea of the MRE is great, everything you need in the bag, save for water. One issue I had right off the bat was opening some of the items. Some of the pull tabs or serrated edges gave me a hard time and I ended up using a knife for the most part. Ill break this review down by individual piece then tell you what I thought as a whole.

Image

Corn Nuggets: This isnt really what I think of when I hear Corn Nugget, but they are ok. A good toasted crunch and flavor around a common food such as corn in a "chips" style is a good bite to the MRE.

Raisins: Again I am not big into fruit but I can really appreciate them in the bag. They were juicy and tart just how I remembered them tasting last time I had some (Several years ago).

Wheat Snack Bread: One of my surprising things here. I dont normally like wheat bread, this however was really good and fit well with the cheese spread. It was soft and dense which gave it a very filling felling.

Lemon-Lime Beverage: This is really your standard sports drink, good flavor bad smell. Just like you can buy from the store.

Coffee: This was decent as well, nothing special but more than I expected from instant coffee.

Ravioli: These little suckers were good. Thick with meat sauce and quite a few of them, it filled me up pretty fast and they tasted good also. Slightly aldente gave them a good bite feeling and overall they held up well.

OVERALL: So overall this MRE was OK, I didnt feel like the components went together that well, in the sense that nothing could really be blended together but it wasnt terrible. Each part of the MRE was edible and had some sort of flavor or filling so I cant fault it for that.

Price: $9.99-12.99
Quality: 7.5
Filling power: 9
Taste: 7

Lol, welcome to the world of MREs....
I've opened severalmenus and wondered "what were they thinking..." things like adding biscuits to the Beef Brisket, but crackers with the Sausage Gravy... They do have some head scratchers.

Tell your GF be careful of the red gum packs, filled french toast, and of course the cinnamon buns. Better safe than sorry.

Look forward to your next reviews. ;)

Thanks guys, yeah we are figuring that out, she is just "guest" trying some of them while she is in town. I enjoyed doing this one. We Recorded Menu 5 today Chicken with Tomatoes and Feta Cheese. It was VERY good.
