Happy Independence Day to you too, NNF! :D

In the spirit of the 4th of July I did a "red white and blue-ish" plate. Grilled buffalo, thick bacon (red) with brie (white), and blueberry dark chocolate sauce (blue-ish). With cauliflower and risotto (more white for the hell of it). (actually, my brother John prepared it - I just provided the ingredients. He is our chef. :) )

And Happy Independence Day to the rest of you folks - I hope you all have a safe and fun evening.

I capped off a few 7.62 x 39's in substitute of some fireworks - and tonight I'm filming one of my International 24hr Rations - gotta decide which. Great day/evening! 8)

Sorry to post late
Great Photos all and Housil yours looks like something from here in the States :D
Steve 7.62x39 is always fun, if you have a chance set off some 7.62x54 R.. That is a Blast from Ivan as well :D
We had Hot Dogs and Hamburgers on the 3rd
But here is the real highlight.. Get away from the crowd
My wife and I went on the river and ate this fine French pate forum member elandil sent me for a river lunch. Since it was the 4th this was to Honor the French fleet commanded by Francois, Count de Grasse,
They helped us win the final battle of our Independence at Yorktown, Virginia October 17, 1781. Marquis de Lafayette and an American army of 5,000 troops blocked Cornwallis’ escape from Yorktown by land while the French naval fleet blocked the British escape by sea.

Thus we are a nation of our own, with some good chow available .

Never too late, Norton! :)

I agree, Housil always pulls out the stops with great photos and yessir looks like a great time.
Oh I love 7.62x39 - it's my primary caliber. And yep yep - 7.62x54 from the 188 Barnaul Factory - silver tip - steel core - busts right through half inch steel plates - but I can say it won't go through my souped up armor plates inserted in my tac-vest. 8)
Sounds like you went on a nice little adventure - and I always love your 1st person view on the canoe - I always feel like I'm right there. Thank you for sharing, Norton.
And thank you to Elandil for sharing your Pate' with our good friend here - gotta say, Elandil is a great dude and is always good at serving up some wholesome surprises to the fellas here.
Let's thank Mr. Lafayette for saving our butts way back when. Otherwise we wouldn't be eating MRE's - we would be eating British ORP's.. oh wait.. that actually sounds kinda nice, dangit!

I'm late too, but (belated) Happy 4th of July to everyone! I was pretty much off-line the past couple of days (which was kinda a nice getaway for a bit) so am just now catching up on what I've missed out on. This thread was very welcoming to see, and I loved seeing the patriotic display in Germany from housil. That warmed my heart!
