Military Camp at German Infantry school

Also this year I was at the Military Camp at the Infantry School of the Bundeswehr

They had a nice camp site at the training area

We set up a nice place for us

Note the 1984 German Army VW Beetle of forums member "jubifahrer"

So after set up our place, time for lunch from a MKT (mobile kitchen trailer)

The next meal was lunch, made from different rations

Heating water for

Freezedried scrambled eggs / bacon

Heating a French entree on it´s cooker on a shovel to avoid to burn the grass

As we heated water anyways, lets have an "Erbswurst" pea stew too

The soup out of the French ration (it´s French "Poisson" means fish and not the English for a toxin )

They were great! I can highly recommend them.

Next dinner was a traditional German dish: Goulash with bread dumglings

The dumplings already in salted water, they need to soak before cooking

After the breakfast, driving into the German Army Training area, briefing drivers first

After a little excursion I´ll tell about later, we had MREs again for dinner.

The 2005 chicken w/ noodles were still great

but I didn´t ate the pineapples. The looked "odd", dark and something white had seperated

Dessert was a Danish bar

No idea what this is

It was "soft" with a fruit and nut (?) flavor/taste. It was "OK", but I wouldn´t buy it in a regular store for money

In WW2 in Africa, they fried eggs on tanks just from the sun. Trying to warm up an entree the same way...

So here is the non Military, non-Rations excursions part.

There was Germany´s second biggest castle ruin pretty close so we did a little trip to that place. We drove the way, Hitlers Autobahn "Strecke 46" was planned. You can still see the remains.

Note the thickness of the outer wall! My buddy is tall 6,3 ft (1.9 Meters) so the walls where 6.6 feet

Note the clearance of the door, how small/short peoples were back these days

Each "notch" holds a wooden beam where the floor was made on so you can count 4 stories here
