When The Going Gets Tough, The Tough Trade Rations

Post by King Leonidas »

"The worst rations are the French rations," Spencer says. "I wouldn't give it to the Taliban — I'm sure there's a law somewhere in the Geneva Convention against slowly poisoning the enemy."

Good article from a Canadian point of view on coalition rations(US,CAN,UK,FRA):

Thanks for the link. Great article.

I think most people presume that the French must have great rations, since they are known for their national cuisine, so it's interesting to hear the opinion of someone who's eaten one.

I actually really like the French RCIRs.. there's more to them, and the choices, being foreign, are more interesting. They really aren't anything special, the pate' is really not all that tasty, but more fun than peanut butter, but I don't see where they can really complain. The crackers are way better than the american ones, the portions are good.. I'll look and see if I can find my review and post a link to it, I even had pics. Lets face it, some people probably wouldn't eat anything but a spaghetti MRE if you gave them the choice, not everyone is going to like eating something different or strange. Imagine eating a Korean MRE, and everything is covered in Kimchi. Great if you like Kimchi, but otherwise just plain nasty.

I haven't heard the word Kimchi in years. It reminds me of the M*A*S*H episode where Hawkeye says to Burns: "Don't you understand man? you've struck coleslaw."

That's scary... i think of the exact same M*A*S*H episode whenever i hear the word "Kimchi"... what's even scarier is i actually hear the word "Kimchi" enough to be noteworthy!
