MRE pricing
MRE pricing
All,
I found a local store selling 2013 MREs for $4 each. Is that a fair price these days? They are military not civilian.

Re: MRE pricing
Yeah, that's not a bad price considering they cost about 6 bucks to make. I'd only buy one to start as you don't know the condition of them or how they were stored.

Thanks GD,,,, Great advice. I think I will grab a few and test. They have 4-5 sealed cases as well..........

Re: MRE pricing
That is a good price. I'd follow gundog's advice and start with one first just to test the condition. I consider it a good price when I'm able to get them for $5-$6 apiece, so $4 is great!
Re: MRE pricing
I'll second that - $4 is not too bad, the inspection date should be this year (2016). Make sure you are looking at the package date though, not the test/inspection date. Also take a look at the TTI (Time / temp indicator) also, if its dark that could be a no-go.

Re: MRE pricing
About $8.40 each at the commissary, or just over $100/case. Didn't check dates but likely fresh. TOTMS available, half the price, single and case.
Re: MRE pricing
Just remember that when they claim "2013" they may be referring to the expiration date, NOT the manufacture date.
There's also that "Commercial Sale is Unlawful" thing. So use caution.

Re: MRE pricing
If it was an inspection date of 2013 that could almost be better... 2010 Case A is one of my favorites and Case B from that year's good too. If they're that old though you'd want to talk them down a bit further if you can because depending on storage conditions they could definitely have components that are going bad by now.
Re: MRE pricing
I meant to type inspection, not expiration. Sorry. Still, they're six years old.
