Because insepc. date say´s "06" and not "16".
Menu 12 in 2003 was Bean & Rice Burrito like shown on picture, 2013 #12 was Spicy Penne Pasta

Here is a photo of the second case.

I noticed the M 16 and U.S. government property stamp

If it´s from a case, why does it have #12 & #14?
And #14 2003 suppose to be Manicotti w/Vegetables but picture shows a Pasta w/Vegetables in Alfredo Sauce, that was #14 in 2002.

Good call, cavguy. I'd not seen those "Case C" MREs before, but there I noticed enough variances to raise a red flag in my head.

Every time I come across them, they're the genuine article... Usually rotated out of the state emergency stockpile. I've never seen a TOTM in person, but then again I only get MREs issued maybe once a year if we're lucky enough to go on an actual field exercise. Also, buying commercial requires a bunch of extra paperwork and hoops to jump through, so unless there's a huge savings I doubt anyone would go through the trouble of making a GPC purchase with unit funds.

And a small pedantic note, ANG = Air National Guard, Army National Guard = ARNG
