Muesli / Leek & Potato Soup / Chicken in Yellow Curry & Rice
Big thanks to steve1989 for sending me this UK ration - it's a February 2015 date of production! I think this might have been the first time I ate two full meals from the same 24hr ration in a single day. It's definitely the first time I've done it and done reviews, so enjoy!
See Part 1 for an overview of the ration as a whole, as well as a list of complete contents.
Part 2 - Dinner
Continuing with the theme of choose-your-own-adventure, I put together the following for dinner:
- Chicken in Yellow Curry & Rice
- Sticky Toffee Pudding
- Fruit Puree (Apple/Raspberry/Blackcurrant)
- Chilli Beef Jerky
- Nuts Cocktail
- Orange Flavoured Drink Powder
- Instant Coffee - Douwe Egberts
- Beverage Whitener
- Sugar
- V6 Strong Teeth Gum
The orange drink was vaguely similar to Sunny Delight. My other choices were the blackcurrant drink and an apple flavored energy drink. I chose the orange because I was going to have the fruit puree with this meal and didn't want to double up on either of the other flavors. Speaking of the puree - I liked it. It was similar to Zapplesauce, but with more fruit flavor.
The main course - Chicken in Yellow Curry & Rice - was a nice mild yellow curry with beans, carrots and potatoes. I ended up adding in the green Tobasco for the second half - that was definitely interesting! The curry was always there to finish out the aftertaste and I think they went well together. It was the only thing in the ration that would make sense with hot sauce (as far as I could tell) so it seemed worth the risk

For dessert, I had the Douwe Egberts instant coffee with one cream and one sugar along with the Sticky Toffee Pudding. Delicious as a description just falls woefully short of what I want to get across here. This was a sort of sponge cake or thick sweet bread soaked in a toffee caramel sauce. I heated it up with the entree and that was definitely the right decision. This was so amazing that I'm sure I'll be wishing for another for years to come.
I finished it all off with another variety of the V6 gum. Thanks for reading - I sure enjoyed this one!
