Military camp with lots of rations
Military camp with lots of rations
We had our annual Military Camp at German Army (Bundeswehr) Combat School in Hammelburg. We ate rations for 5 days from different countries so I post it here at "off topic".
Our setup
You could either have food 4 times a day from the mobile kitchen trailer
buy local
or bring your own food like we did.
Our camp neighbors
(Can you guys hear that Reo noise?!

An areal overview of the camp:
(Maybe you hear now the M*A*S*H theme?!)
So here is about the rations part:
Out of a UK multi climate ration A Cola beverage out of a UK multi climate ration My dinner, chicken w/ cornbread stuffing UK multi climate ration breakfast Very yummi! A (€2.99) cereal bar out of the UK multi climate great taste
MRE lunch, chicken w/ noodles UK entree Very spicy Sorry for the wrong color of the camping stove... Pot set to heat EPa entrees for dinner
EPa dishes, curry sausage w/noodles & turkey patties w/ curry rice, 1990 canned bread and American grape soda

Re: Military camp with lots of rations
Housil, this has to be one of the absolute coolest overall reviews on MREinfo.
I would love to see something like this here in the US, with the rations and those awesome vehicles.
I watched the YT vid (just subscribed too!) and I think it was extraordinary all those Trucks & Jeeps! Wow!!
I absolutely love how you did the Blueberry UGR cake -I had one recently but mine didn't have the syrup!
That other cake looked amazing too!
And all those MRE's and the EPA's.. makes my mouth water!
Those UK Rations look great - I don't consume Aspartame so I would have given that drink to a friend. The Porridge looked nice & simple for a palatable breakfast meal.
You're the man, Housil! Thank you for sharing your awesome experiences and ration photos!

Re: Military camp with lots of rations
This looks like a great camp. Thank you for posting the pictures
First little off topic but I have to mention the Old Flecktarn gear is classic. I have a few pieces and when I wear it people comment in a positive way. Even those people who are not what you would term Outdoors type. The Enders stove is also a classic piece of outdoor gear, both military and civilian .
Now as for the rations. For me would love to try that freeze dried Pea meal on a winter camping trip.
It looks like a great cold weather meal. How did it taste? and did you eat it with Military ration bread?
I can see that with some Rye bread, heated via steam from the boil.
The older Warsaw Pact tanks, are they former 1970's early 80's NVA ?

Re: Military camp with lots of rations
steve1989, tzhank you for your kind words!!
The rye bread is from UGR cans, each are 500g. They are the same as used in the German EPa´s with 170g We didn´t heat it.
So for the tanks, these are "left overs" from former East Germanys NVA.
The pea stew was similar to the canned one we had before (Camp 2013) Usually these pea stews are rich and have a nice salty taste from it´s bacon. But causes you lot´s of "entertainment" at nightNorton wrote: Now as for the rations. For me would love to try that freeze dried Pea meal on a winter camping trip.
