Unboxing - oh boy, I've been wanting one of these for 10 years.. first time I tried to get them was in 2004 - I was 15, and the guy either never shipped them or they got seized by customs. Oh well. I finally got one - and again, thanks to a really great fellow who had provided a terrific variety of International Rations last year.

Unboxing - I must say, there is quite the variety of foods in this Ration. They sure don't short-change their troops on menu variation.

I didn't photograph the inner contents of this fruit puree packet - but I can say this was a delicious little treat - just way too small - a grown man needs like 6 of these things! ;)

That's a big accessory packet!

Standard looking fruit & nut mix. Nothing too special. Kinda dry and bland.

Boiled Sweets. Actually I feel these are better than your average hard candy. A nice vibrant fruit flavor - varying flavors all are good. A little more natural and flavorful than say Fruit Lifesavers or something.

!

I don't know what happened - but the Tropical Muesli was off.. I ate it, felt strange, went outside and leaned over... out it all came - ralphed it all up do easily that there had to be something wrong with it or maybe I was allergic to something in it? Oh well, chalk it up to the odds. No worries.

There is an interesting story behind this Muesli.

It made me sick! I don't know why, but I ate it, felt funny and went outside, leaned over and puked it all up so easily that it had to have something wrong with it. Oh well, chalk it up to the game of: "I'm eating old food" but I was surprised considering I've ingested MUCH older food without getting sick.

I think I gave this thing to a buddy - sorry folks no taste test on the orange drink.

This looks pretty good - has Sucralose - not as bad as Aspartame

Sorry for the awful pic - it says 'Fruity' where the pack creases.

Boiled the pouch for 10 minutes - I like the HDR version more - this one had a neat flavor just a little bland. Actually tasted alot of vinegar.

Now we're talkin'! Had nice little dried fruit bits in them - these cookies are fantastic dipped into the coffee.

They were slightly stale - but these cookies were still pretty tasty - bits of dry fruit in them and dipping into the coffe softened them up and they were fantastic.

Fruit Bar has a bold strawberry flavor - very sweet and it was absolutely delicious. that also applies for the Apricot flavor too.
DSCN3567.JPG
Coffee looks good - tastes alot like US Taster's Choice. Maybe the creamer is a little higher quality - smoother and less artificial tasting.

The 'Bulls-eye' is not a target per se, rather a place to note compass bearings and known ranges to various points of interest.
IE: where the Bad Guys may be hiding, or marking lanes of fire.
Practical folk, the British ...
I do like all the brew kit/drinks they have, as well as some really good snacks.
Too many main meals with beans, though.
Must get interesting in a small foxhole.

Hey dirbag, thanks so much for helping me out on that one! I just for some reason thought I'd read somewhere it was a bulls eye, but maybe I was just imagining that, who knows. That would be more likely

It makes more sense it being a compass bearing tool - so neat! Thankyou for clarifying, that is actually a lot more interesting too, very practical indeed!

Hey, or you could just shoot the thing! heheh

I am going to keep posting what I've photographed so far -

I still have not finished this ration - I am taking the remainder of it on my next camping trip - hopefully within a week or 2.

Looked and tasted okay - but my body rejected it - I was fine afterwards but it was very strange. All happened within an hour. was just fine in the end!

Inside the deadly Muesli bag before hydration - kinda bad yellow tint - my apologies

Thank you for the MCR review.

Thankyou Housil for the warning on the Wet-Wipes - they must have some sortof soap that is less mild than the US MRE Moist Towelette - Probably best mixed with a little water or just to stick to cleaning your hands or less sensitive parts of the body.
They contain also some lemon acid, so you can clean your hands from fat but also wipe your face for refreshing.

Looks like a handy place to put the info you need to deliver for a proper (US) SALUTE report.

I see the label says 'With Milk' I wonder if the powdered milk went bad? Rolled Oats are supposed to last for many years

I heard the British are very good with this type of hard candy. If they have a bolder flavor than American hard candy that's sounds good. Are they better than CHARMS?

Hey Norton - I think you hit the nail on the head there on the British UK Tropical Mueslie I'd had. The dried milk DID kinda taste slightly off or something. Not in a bad way - just different from regular dried milk.. heck it still might not have evn been that but I am starting to think it is the most likely culprit.

Ok folks, here's another neat one for tonight - a Polish Military Ration.

I am going to get the photos up and then will start adding comments photo - by - photo mainly since I want to get a few things up tonight.

We can always elaborate on this stuff later - but I want to give you all the visuals first. It's more fun that way.
Heck, personally - I was always the kid who just looked at the pictures in books anyways.

Well - time for the good part:

I think the DoP was around 09' or 2010 - and the date there is the expiration of 2012. Really - I felt this ration was very fresh - and possibly that is it's actual DoP there.. I'm not sure since I cannot read Polish. Sorry guys!
