Rationtin440, no apologies needed everyone has their own "taste" for things especially MRE stuff. I have not had a good nutcake for at least a decade and a half or longer, but boy did I love them so - when fresh! It is also possible that my palate has changed too... I took a break from MRE's for awhile once I got off active duty, so I am really conscious of artificial flavors and additives and usually frown upon eating food with such tastes.

Thanks cavguy! Like I said, the nutcakes were a cool concept and when we first got the MREs that had them, we were hoping they'd be better than the orange and chocolate and cinnamon nutrolls and fruitcakes that we had with the MCIs----but nope! Pretty much everyone in the unit I was in thought that the nuts in the MRE ones were spoiled/bad quality control. It was even worse for the choc-a-holics in our unit (ahem), so we were very happy with the gorilla cookies.
