German police jacket

Post by dirtbag » Sun Dec 08, 2013 4:00 pm

I recently ordered a used German police coat, from Sportsman's guide, for $36 USD..

Very warm, 12 pockets, Gore-tex.

Have a look.

Get one, you won't be disapointed!

For the German members, this is probably Verboten...

Now that the overwhelming response has settled down, does anyone, especially the German members, have any suggestions about cleaning said jacket?

Is this a typo and should read "that"?

Has it a(ny) label in with instructions? I can translate for you. We also have Goretex jackets. The Goretex is not the problem, but the reflecting silver stripes. If do you use a regular machine, they will rub off the "silver" reflecting material and the stripes get blind. Our uniforms got to a special laundry shop.

What dirtbag mentioned about the German police jackets being verboten for German members, made me think about the rumors a few years ago about military uniforms being restricted here in the U.S. As I understand it from talking to friends of mine who are police officers and a German exchange student at a nearby college, both here and in Europe (to include Germany of course) the restrictions are that if a citizen here or there wears a military uniform or a civilian police jacket, said clothing may not have official insignia, branch/MOS patches, and official ribbons or decorations unless the individual is currently serving and/or on official business. I'm not familiar with any restrictions for uniforms in Germany for civilian paintball or airsoft competition. Of course I may be waaaaay off on this, but it is what I was told.

Housel,
No, no cleaning instructions, just what it's made of.
Next time you turn in your gear for cleaning, could you ask them what they do or use?

I did just find another 4 pockets, 16 so far!

Very nice jacket, for ~ $40 USD!

Rationtin....

We are not allowed to wear anything that makes you looks like an "official person" (soldier, police officer etc.) from Germany or any other foreign country we are related like in the NATO.

We are not even allowed to wear any tee-shirt saying "Polizei" (Police) on it for fun.
It´s OK to wear a M65 jacket or a BDU jacket or just the pants or just the hat but not a whole current (!) uniform.

Paintball/Airsoft is another special thing...
Remember we are the evil Germans that set the whole world on fire in 1939?
So any blank firearm or anything that looks like or is doing a similar thing (a wooden stick with an elastic band, toy guns) are not very popular over here at all by the liberal party.
So buying an airsoft or paintball "device" makes you almost to a war criminal. Even our own government (liberal party) calls our own military and soldiers "murder" and "non-humans" :(
It´s absolute prohibited to wear ANY military looking clothing - not even a green jeans and a green shirt - going to an airsoft play ground IF do you find any "glorification of war play ground" over here at all...

I think I answered my question via Google...

Wash in cold water, inside out, all zippers closed, and hang dry.

I'll check with "She Who Must Be Obeyed" before I do anything wrong...

That guy that picks up our "dirty" uniforms ist "just" a truck driver, he has no clue about cleaning business. I would clean it as any other Goretex clothing. Nothing special

I don't want to turn this into a political discussion, but my mother had an uncle who was saved from bleeding to death by the evil Germans----in his case his squad was cut off and over-run, all were wounded and the German column dispatched medics to save him and his mates----not only from bleeding to death but also from interrogation). Our own Vietnam veterans did many kind-hearted and heroic things which the media of the day chose to ignore, and they were called murderers as well. BTW my mother's uncle corresponded and became friends with the German medics after the war and they visited eachother a few times.

Here in Spain soldiers, police officers and so on are not allowed to wear anything that can give away the fact they are police officers, soldiers, or whatever. Airsoft players, hunters and just people who like going to the fields may go to a camping shop and buy the whole DPM uniform and usually there is no problem about it. There are plenty of people who buy army clothes to work as these clothes are made of good stuff and there is no problem about it. Me and my mates we play airsoft and we have never had any problem about it either.

During my time in the army when we went out we were not allowed to wear anything at all related to the army, not even the boots. Obviously our haircuts gave away from miles the fact that we were serving :D

What is not allowed, is to wear army ranks. That is not allowed at all . I heard the story of a guy who for a carnival party bought the whole four stars general uniform. He was stoped by the police and asked his ID. When they saw he was no general, he was told to go home and get rid of that uniform and not to search for trouble. Obviously police officers had better things to to than to stop guys dressed in general uniforms.

Airsoft, in fact, is quite half illegal in spain. The airsoft guns are for some people guns and for some others, me among them, just a toy. There is not a law about it in Spain and therefore what for a cop is a gun for another may be a toy.

Happy new year to all of you.
