Australian CR1M - Menu F - 06/12

Post by ToxicCarbon »

Hi Guys,

I opened my CR1M the other day and took some shots. I haven't eaten everything yet but had a go at most of the stuff. Here we go:

First a pic of the open pack spread out. A lot of food here.

This is a pic of the accessories pack:

The first main meal I had was the chilli con carne. This seems to be a popular ration pack dish the world over! So far I've had American, French and now Australian chilli con carne. And so far the Aussie version is the best :D The others are all good but the aussie one seams to have more real meat in it. A good meal.

The next main meal was a lamb and vegetables with Rosemary. Again, very tasty, lots of real meat and good flavour.

Now time for dessert :D Unfortunately every dessert in the CR1M's is diced fruit in syrup. Now don't get me wrong, I enjoy the odd diced peaches and pears in syrup but I reacon the troops must get sick of them out in the field. Makes you wish for an MRE lemon poppy seed pound cake! The fruit was as expected and tasted just the way it has always tasted.

The other things I've eaten so far are the beef jerky, tuna with french dressing, jam biscuits, processed cheese and crisp bread. The beef jerky and tuna are civvy types you can buy off the shelf. Tuna was great, may start buying this product for myself and the beef jerky was a bit meh. The processed cheese was actually quite good. I think its the same type that the New Zealand rat packs have. Very tasty. The crisp bread tasted like a whole wheat cracker.

Jam Biscuits:

And finally, nearly forgot about the candy chocolates, which is your chocolate M&M's:

So that's pretty much all I had time to do. All in all a very good ration. Would definitely eat again.

I, too, was mystified. Thought I'd scanned years' worth of interesting posts when I first joined. Don't recall seeing this one at all.

Glad it's up now, though.

Nope posted this ages ago. Was bit mystified as to why I didn't get any responses to be honest  Glitch in the system maybe?

Glad you all liked the post.

ToxicCarbon: Thank you for the review, very nice. The Australian rations have some unique things in them sometimes.
