1992 German EPA Typ III

A while back I received this from eBay (it was advertised as a new one) and was planning to do a review on it. Sadly, I completely forgot about it and went on vacation.

Contents:

One tank sheets package already eaten, still as good as when they were packed.

Now on to the main course.
Boiled for 15 min:

Whatever was on the left was still in perfect condition, ate all of it. The risotto was dry and one solid block, still smelled and tasted fine but was way too dry.

Orange drink powder:

Doesn't look orange to me:

Very strong smell of orange and sugar, that's basically how it tasted too.

Tried the chocolate too:

Slightly white on the outside, but the taste was still normal.

Stay tuned for the spreads, cheese, "Leberwurst" and coffee/tea tomorrow.

Nothing wrong with it. The 4 fingers of death were worse.

Great you tried it. The white spots/stains on the chocolate are only fat that separates from the chocolate, nothing wrong/spoil with it. Great the entrees were still OK. This pre-2000 were cold-war containers, made "for ever" storage.

Margarine:

I have no death wish, so this went straight into the bin.

Apricot jam:

Still tasted good, no difference with a fresh one.

"Sauerkirsche" (sour cherry)

Too sour for me, but I guess it's just something German (the last time I was there they even sold tea and juice). Don't think it's spoiled since I'm typing this right now.

Part 3 with coffee/tea and the cheese + Leberwurst should be up this evening.

Very cool pics! Here in my neck of the woods, about 10-12 miles from me, there is a place called Atkins Farms in Hadley MA. which sells among other things a chocolate bar called "Maybona Schokolade". I recently talked to the clerk who had served as a mess specialist in the U.S. Army in Germany in the early 1990s, and she told me that the bar was a very sought after bit of Bundeswehr rations for trading between German and American troops. Unfortunately the price for this bar at Atkins farms was over $5.00 so I did not try it. Also this bar was in a wrapper with dark brown color along with the whitish color.

Yes housil thanks! That is the one, dunno why I thought it was Maybona instead of Meybona. The difference in what I saw was that it had a dark brown stripe where Maybona was instead of red.
