Military Foot Powder-What Do You Use?

Post by crunchie » Sun Jul 14, 2013 3:43 pm

Ahh, yes, your feet!

After you have eaten your rations and have a full belly, , you have to get around on your tootsies!

What foot powder does the military use or issue nowadays?

Just plain talc/talcum powder or are they issuing newer civilian brands?

Has anyone come across any good foot powders from the armies of the world? :D

Thanks!

I have to wear boots 12hrs ever day on duty but never used any foot powder.
Also not when being in the fields. I guess modern Goretex boots will help this a lot.

It used to come in little rectangular tin boxes, but that was ~ 40+ years ago...

I picked up a moderate case of foot/crotch rot in the tropics, I have to treat it daily or it flares up quick!
A bad case of jungle rot is very bad, and never goes away.
For foot powder, I use Zeasorb, and for the other Econazole Nitrate and Nystaten /Triamcinalone combo... :?

As far as issue goes now days I never saw any issued out like you see back in the old days (like Housil's pic). We were however given baby powder (Johnson's I think) that came in health and comfort packs with a bunch of other personal care items. You had to make a trip to the local PX if you wanted to buy and medicated foot / body powder. Or if your medics were high speed they could give you some medicated foot powder, otherwise you needed to go on sick call to get the good stuff for free and relieve the fire!

The ones I remember were a lot smaller.
Maybe an inch tall...

Gold Bond Medicated Powder 10-Ounce Containers (Pack of 3)

This powders' uses are nearly unlimited. It works fast, is easy and comfortable to use. It can be used in socks or shoes.
It is great for odor control and definitely works like a charm for jock itch. We had this in the field. And recommend this product to have on hand at all times.
