FDSman,

With the jerven duk its supposed to be used for a variety of things. I've looked at the website and I was quite sure Jerven bags double as both a poncho and sleeping bag. Its the weight and thickness of different bags that the individual can choose from depending on where your going.

A local knife shop was going out of business and I picked this up for $30, great for camping and keeping crocodiles out of the shower

Besides the Leatherman I have several pocket knives including a venerable Victorinox Swiss Army Champ I got 25 years ago and is still as sharp as the first day I got it in Zurich.
I have a nice colecction of foldable ,pocket and full tang knives. Each has its merits and purpose.

Hail to the Leatherman, I just used it to fix our broken vacuum cleaner this morning :D
I picked up a folding knife of the same brand as the full tang in my previous post at the same sale, It lives in my car. Great sale they were 80% off.
My father is a farmer (grazier to be specific). He always carries a Shrade Oldtimer pocket knife everywhere. It is sharp enough to shave with and I have seen him open cans with it faster than can openers. Next time i am visiting I will post a photo of it.

Recently added a piece of play ground chalk to my kit.

Useful for writing on anything, great for temp trail marking, crush a little for "talc" to dry out feet or improve grip
