Re: RCIR Menu 6
ToxicCarbon, we have a supermarket chain here in Massachusetts called "Stop & Shop" which has an international foods section, and I've seen that Nestle Treat Caramel stuff there. As for getting an RCIR, I'd really love to try one as well as the British 24 Hour ration, but not sure how I'd get it into this country with customs and all even if I had the money to buy some. As for that caramel stuff in the French RCIR, looks like it would be really good with the sweet crackers, also I'd be curious to see how it would be heated in a microwave safe-container. I assume the container for the caramel dessert in the RCIR was metal yes?

Hello,rationtin440 wrote:ToxicCarbon, you mentioned that you got the feeling that the caramel was watered down, which does make sense because you'd be able to determine since it is fairly easy to tell something like that, but I don't recall you saying whether or not you heated it up, although I'd guess that heating it would be more likely to thicken it. If it was an old ration, there might be some separating of the ingredients in the caramel, but not sure if that makes alot of sense either.
very interested in your RCIR review...and especially the bit about the dessert. We're working our way through a menu 2 right now and it had a chocolate milky dessert contained in it. We opted to heat it up because the esbit tablets still had some legs after heating the main. It was delicious, with a rich chocolate taste, but it was incredibly runny. We haven't eaten one cold so no idea how it would have been, but it appears that heating doesn't thicken them up.
I'll get a review up soon I hope! Waiting on a menu 1 and a menu 4 being delivered at the moment.
