Hey housil, that photo of your lunch sitting on that container stenciled "ABC" it looks alot like a container for the emergency ventilation system for treating casualties of a hydrogen cyanide or cyanogen chloride chemical agent attack----as I recall the idea was very quick and high volume oxygen flow after the amyl nitrate. Of course I'm recalling stuff I learned in the 1980s and 90s so it could just be a case for other stuff but the "ABC" and the size and shape of the case makes mwe wonder. Am I close?

These containers are solid, waterproof boxes made by "Zarges" and are in use in all sizes with all military and civilan forces.
So the "ABC" (="NBC") was just the purpose of using for.
Not to go to deep into, the problem of "cyanide" is it blocks the cellular respiration so no matter how much oxygen you breath - even 100% - it never goes into the cell and you will "inner suffocate". You´ll need a "Cyanide Antidote Kit" (4-dimethylaminophenol).rationtin440 wrote: as I recall the idea was very quick and high volume oxygen flow after the amyl nitrate. Thanks for refreshing my memory housil! NBC school was like 24 years ago and I can't believe how easy it is to forget stuff. And I agree there's really no need to go into the problem of cyanide, just that it's a serious issue and not something we ever wanted to have to deal with.

I´m a pro paramedic and also have to keep reading my books to keep all these "little details" in my mind

Thanks housil, that makes me feel better!
Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one with memory issues, and eventhough I'm only 48, I feel very old when it comes to recalling stuff; my wife says I'm too stubborn to look stuff up, her favorite line is "that's why you have all those military medical manuals, you're supposed to use them!"

I´m only 45 but was a station leader for the last 10 years so I spent most of my skills in "administration & paperworks".rationtin440 wrote: and eventhough I'm only 48, I feel very old when it comes to recalling stuff
Since April I´m back on regular ACLS Ambulance duty and have to reread lot´s of about all the new drugs we got, new techniques they established etc... I bought all the current books to keep me in time
