I know "Linsengericht" from several motor bike tours.
As mentioned before, my Dad told me about these self heating cans. He ate them at the end of WW2. He was a kid age of 8 and they got these cans.He told me about the wick inside the can you have to light.
The wick burned down and the flame heated up the food that was "attached" to the cans inside.
