On the way I will be stopping off at natural wonders like Katherine Gorge, The Devils Marbles and Kings canyon and passing through several deserts. Since most of you guys on here (and me) have never seen this part of the world, I thought I would share it with you. depending on the ridiculous luggage requirements of Australian airlines I will try to smuggle the odd ration with me to Darwin so I can give you guys a real experience of what it is like out there, so wish me luck and keep your eyes on this spot
Darwin to the Rock
Darwin to the Rock
hi all, I have been a bit lax around here for a while, but next week I am off on a personal oddessy of sorts. After flying to Darwin (In the extreme north of Australia) I will be driving down though the real australian out back to Alice Springs and Uluru (Ayre's Rock) Darwin to Alice is about 1500 km's then another 600 odd to the rock.

Re: Darwin to the Rock
just for a a little perspective, it 's about the distance from Berlin to Moscow, or London to Rome, give or take a few Km's and it is all in one territory

Re: Darwin to the Rock
Sounds like a fun trip!
You can mail packages ahead if there's a post office on the way, It's called 'General Delivery' here, they'll hold it for you.
Or mail to a Hotel, marked 'Hold for Arrival' ...
Easier than baggage, probably cheaper too...
Or, find a surplus shop in Darwin.
Many ways to skin a cat...
