British Ration Date Code

Post by Bobby » Thu Feb 16, 2012 9:41 pm

How do you tell the date on a British Ration...It reads 95-6...Is this the 95th day of 2006?

Thanks Bobby

It really depends what "era" British ration you are reading the date on. Is it a on the ration box itself? Or are you reading the date on a boil in bag ration or is it a can? If it is the main box what is the ration name written on the box itself? This all can lead us to the proper production date.

The 95-6 is on the menu sheet..The items are the boil in a bag type ( silver ). The menu on the box is a B..

I believe the rations that used letters (A-B, etc..) are from the late 1990's to mid 2000's. The date you are reading is possibly a menu sheet from the rations dated 1995- 1996. By the late 2000's they used numbers (1-10, etc.). Without seeing pictures of the ration in question my guess would be what you have is from 1995-96.
