I was able to finally find the specifications for the old nutcakes online! If you scroll down you will notice the .PDF "Revision C" that is the one for the Nut Cakes! Ok amateur cooks out there someone give this a try!

I hope this link stays active for all:

I would give this recipe a try but I know I will jack it up. So whoever makes a batch of this nutcake please post a useable "easy to read" recipe for us non cooking inclined!

Yesterday I have read the "recipe" more detailed. All is described very well (ingredients, cake preparation, ...) and I guess it would be no problem to do that, except paragraphs 3.4 "pouch filling and sealing" and 3.5 "pouch thermoprocessing" :( :? . First off you need MIL-P-44073 "Packaging and Thermoprocessing of Foods in Flexible Pouches" (I can´t found that in the Net) for further information, second off if you have that regulation, I guess it will be hard to "bake" the cakes in pouches at home :( :? ! Any ideas how to solve the problem  :?: ?

So long mreheater72

I was just assuming you would need to measure out a small amount and bake accordingly (minus pouch of course) the amount of batter to bake would be similar to that in the MRE pouch. But I don't know for how long and what temp, I think a professional baker will be able to fill us in.

I guess the best alternate to the flexible pouches used in MREs for baking the nut cake batter is to use usual aluminum foil fold in double or triple layers. Now we only need the right temperature and the baking time  .

Check out my posting from early this morning. I tested the Natick Labs MRE cherry nut cake recipe and it worked pretty well.
