1980s LRP Ration for sale

Post by LogDayFreshHots » Thu Sep 22, 2011 7:32 pm

I have some 1980s LRP rations I am considering parting with and figured I would offer them here before posting them on fleece-bay. These are part of a 1980 contract. They were packed in 1981 with an inspection date of 1983. For those that don't know these are the Long Range Patrol rations that look like mini-MRE's in the brown packaging with back printing.

The outer pouches on many have begun to deteriorate from storage. This would allow you to display the contents without the guilt of cutting the pouch open. Climate took care of that! The contents inside are still intact. The main entre still holds it's vacuum seal. The Accessory Packet seals along the border have deteriorated so I took the contents out gingerly to get some pics. I tried photographing the outside of the Accessory Packet but couldn't get a clear photo so here is whats printed on the outside of the packet:

ACCESSORY PACKET
MENU NO. 2

Coconut Candy Bar
Matches
Coffee
Cream
Sugar
Interdental Stimulator

The Interdental Stimulator is missing. As I mentioned earlier the outer pouch of the ration has deteriorated so it could be sitting loose among the other rations. The photo's represent what I am offering and if anyone is interested I will definitely inspect a meal to make sure everything is there before shipping it out. Some of the meals have outer pouches still intact but you can tell the elasticity of the pouch has been lost causing it to start cracking if handled roughly. If interested I will definitely look for meals in the best condition possible unless some of you fellow ration weirdo's plan on munching one of these and thus don't care what the outer pouch condition is. I just happened to grab this one to photograph. If anyone has a specific menu request I will have to check to see if I have it. As can be seen in the photo's these are not current production or RCW/ MCW components.

This is my first time uploading pics so hopefully they load in the order I chose them as it's looking like they want to load backwards. As you can see the vacuum seal is still present. When these meals are produced they are 'gas-flushed' to remove the oxygen to create a enviroment incapable of supporting bacteria growth. They are then vacuum-sealed. I only mention this for those wondering if the meal is still safe. I am starting to feel the temptation to open one and do a taste-test/ review for anyone interested before buying.

If anyone is interested PM me with an offer. I was thinking $5 + s/h per meal strictly for the collector value and because Im not really trying to profit. If anyone wants to offer more I certainly won't complain! I would be happy to just make what I paid and also to clear out some room for new rations coming in. I could keep them for my own enjoyment but thought I would offer some of them here for others. What the hell. I'll do a review even though this one is Chili Con Carne which translates into "Stuff with Bed Pan Bullets" since the beans never rehydrate. I hope someone out there is grateful. The last time I enjoyed this entre the dog got the blame for reverse vapor lock :!:   She was a Rottweiler!

LDFH,

on the photos we can see the ration case in the background! Is it possible to post some pics of that case (different side views) :) ?

Hi Hagen,

Sure! When I get a chance I'll take pics of the case.

I forgot what I used to put the ration on but I know it wasn't the actual shipping case. It was something else and I can't remember what. But I do have the case in the 'junk room' and will get pics as soon as possible.
