Chocolate Banana Nut Dessert Bar
Chocolate Banana Nut Dessert Bar
I just had a dessert bar (manufacture 11/2008) that came in one of Treesuit's FSIRs... I was quite pleased with it...
At first I was expecting some sort of miniature powerbar. Instead, it is more of an "airy" brownie. Strong cocoa flavor. Maybe a hint of chemical in there, but this is, after all, a MRE item. It sort of reminds me of chocolate mousse, but much denser.
This one is just hard to explain...
So, on a scale:
<-- less dense / more dense -->
choclate mousse / filling of a 3 Musketeer bar / dessert bar / brownie / chocolate bar
If you get your hands on one, I think you'll enjoy it.

Was there any hint of banana?
Re: Chocolate Banana Nut Dessert Bar
Actually, there was a hint of banana. I detected it more afterwards, but it was there.
All in all, I would stock up on these.

Today I had one of these too:

The very first time I had one of these new bars.

Just three years young

Nice smell

It had a nice banana taste and also nice pieces of nuts. I´d like it to have it again.

Re: Chocolate Banana Nut Dessert Bar
+1
I recently tried three of the dessert bar varieties (c.b.n., peanut butter, mocha) as part of CheaperThanDirt's "MRE side items", and was very pleasantly surprised by all of them!
Mocha is my favorite, CBN my 2nd.
In contrast, I was disappointed by the apple cinnamon First Strike bars.
They have a far more "tacti-kewl" name, but have the strongest chemical aftertaste of any MRE item I've ever had.
I'm with the rest of you on the the muffin top.
It's not horrible (better than the FS bars), but was disappointing. To be fair, the word "muffin" had me preconditioned to expect a freshly baked muffin, which was rather naive on my part.

The important thing is the spices.
