288 count case of FRHs for $19.95 at sportsmansguide.com

Just wanted to throw this in if it isn't already known. You can currently get a case of 288 heaters for only $20 plus shipping. I can see more than a couple of uses for these and you would never run out if you have these on hand as well as having the one that comes in each MRE. I have usually seen these for sale at surplus stores like Sunny's for $1 each so you really can't lose at this price. Their quantities are limited. My case came in standard military packaging box, reinforced with plastic stacking brackets as well.

Thanks for the link, Dex. That's a pretty good price. Any idea what the dates on those heaters are? They're probably still good even if they are from the early 90s. I just tried an older one last week and while it wasn't as quick to get started as the newer FRHs, it did the job.

Hrm, good question. I will see if I can decypher the gibberish on the case and let you know. I think they are pretty current though.

The catalog number doesn't match, but it looks like the same deal. A fellow whose blog I read took advantage of this order recently. Upon receiving the shipment, it turned out that the heaters were from 1992; some were completely inactive, others barely worked. Dunno if I'd stake my money that the batch linked in this thread are any better

I think the gent in question reads these forums, so he may have more info if he sees this!
