Preparing for and Surviving Natural Disasters

Post by jfko6 » Fri Aug 26, 2011 4:41 pm

Friends: I'm being evacuated by executive order of NYC Mayor Mike Bloomberg. I've written survival articles in the past out of actual emergencies. This is the first ever evacuation ever in the history of New York City. Am prepared. 100+ mph winds are in the forecast according to the weather forecasters.

Thanks for well wishes BB! We here in western Massachusetts are probly gonna get hit pretty hard, but our socialist governor insists that we're ready, why he's even called out the national guard to make sure we are not storing too much food or water while others may go without because they spent all their money on movies and booze. Just wondering how it is in the UK, are people there allowed to store food and other supplies for emergencies or is it discouraged by the gov't? I'll keep everyone informed as I can.

We here in Germany are not limited in storing supplies BUT we usually never had such big disasters like hurricanes. Just thunderstorms with heavy rain and floods (like yesterday and today). So need need to pile up and no need to limit them.
Being hit by a hurricane is a thing most peoples can´t even imagine over here

RT440-

Seriously :!:  The NG has been called out to make sure citizens aren't stocking too much food :!: If that's the case and things go bad that governor needs to be voted out (easier said than done Im sure) and held accountable for any suffering. Of all things, sending the NG out to prevent the citizens from preparing and turning citizens into serfs. Sounds like another politician with a God complex hoping this all goes his way for the upcoming re-election campaign.

We dodged the bullet here in Florida but my Grandmother lives in Greenlawn, NY on Long Island in the house she and my Grandfather bought brand new almost 60 years ago, when they moved out of Brooklyn. If she gets plastered we load up the truck and head north for the clean up.

Latest radio report indicates Irene made landfall six hours go in North Carolina.
