London riots
Its now the second evening. There was violence in my area last night, and all shops and businesses are boarded and have closed early.
Its a really strange atmosphere here.

Re: London riots
I saw it in our news. Very scary to me, as bad as our May 1st riots each year.

Re: London riots
No trouble so far ( its 11.20pm local time) trouble in Leeds and Manchester but London seems quiet.
The revolt of the kinder, not any political motive at all, except to steal the latest trainers and burn a building.
If this is the pattern of the future, lord help us all.

BB -
Glad to hear you are safe and hope you and family remain so.
I was listening to the radio today and they played a sound bite of a reporter interviewing two female rioters who said they were doing it to prove "to the rich" that they can do whatever the want! Their answer was in response to the question of why burn and loot the shops in their own neighborhoods?
Clearly these two have no idea how close to the bone many small business owners live after paying the bills associated with operating a business.
As for "pattern of the future" I believe it's inevitable, when you those like Al Gore spea at "youth conventions" and tell the crowd they know more than their parents and instill the "entitlement" mentality. All we can really do is hope for the best.
If you feel it will help maybe we can start a collection of MCI White Bread and MRE Country Captain Chicken? Throwing that crap at a human might put you in violation of the Geneva Convention but I'm sur I speak for many here when I say either one would probably have repelled the Huns
Stay safe and good luck.....

Re: London riots
Hope all our mates and their families in London and the UK are safe and sound. Looks like it might be settling down a bit.
Great too see all the bods out to clean up today. Same thing happened here with the floods here earlier in the year. Any one with time just showed up and helped out.
Great community spirit guys

Re: London riots
BB - hope you did okay during the night.
I watched and listened to the news concerning the riots. Apparently the "locals" have gotten fed-up enough with the spoiled-rotten youths and have turned out onto the streets to protect their neighborhoods. Good on 'em!
Saw photo's of the local Sihk community turning out in front of their temple to protect it as well.
Of course, local law enforcement referred to the pro-active citizens as"intoxicated" and "vigilantes", which is unfortunate, and basically said their "assistance" wasn't wanted or needed.
Someone in Parlament (I think) then made a statement in support of the locals turning out to defend their property. Some in the news have made the rather somber, eye-opening comparison of how many of the burned businesses survived the "blitz" only to be burned by rioters.
Hope things return to normal soon.....

Re: London riots
BB- good to hear the worst is probably, yet over in your country. I hope you all over there can weather this storm out and get back to living normal.
Ironically this reminds me so much of the World Trade Organization riots back in Seattle back in 1999. So much rioting and looting and the police were basically fighting the crowds and anarchists with one hand tied behind their backs and then getting so much flak from the citizens and politicians for not doing enough to stop everyone.
It makes me so sick to the stomach that local law enforcement has to be restrained and then after the worst of the worst then given the means to drastically fight back against the looters and restore order.
If your going to go up against these mindless, egocentric, brain washed thugs then you need to fight fire with fire and make a stand. Then worry about the repercussions later.

Re: London riots
Thanks for the posts lads
All is quiet in London for the second night. Trouble moved north to Birmingham, Salford and Manchester last night, but tonight all seems quiet.
On monday night there was no police presence here in any meaningful sense, (only 1,200 officers for the whole of Greater London. GL is BIG) Now there are 16,000 on call.
There have been vigilante groups set up. 3 I believe Pakistani vigilantes were killed in Birmingham last night defending their street, they were rammed by a car containing looters or "organisers". A mass murder.
My major concern with that is that VGs are being set up on ethnic lines. Not too happy with that. Indeed the only ongoing situation at the moment is in Eltham, S.E London, where a group of white vigilantes (Eltham is a strong BNP recruitment area) are in a standoff with riot police. Earlier they had been checking buses coming into Eltham and crudely "racially profiling" the passengers. I assume they were trying to send them back.
I saw a clip of this on the BBC website. The cops got involved, leading to the present confrontation.
Its also turned cooler and its raining in much of the U.K at the moment.
Looters are sensitive flowers, they feel the cold
LDFH. They would love the CCC and probably demand seconds. They would probably pour it over their chips. These are the kind of degenerates we are dealing with.

Re: London riots
BB, my sincere hopes and prayers for your safety and the safety of others here who are in the UK. We in Amerika have been spared the major breakdowns of law and order that we've seen elsewhere in the world, but our future as acivilization does indeed look bleak with the financial chaos looming. Are many in the UK pushing for a restoration of individual rights to keep firearms for self defense and home defense? I know that can be a touchy subject with many opinions pro and con, just curious.
Re: London riots
Hi,
I've heard that in LA some Asian shop owners defended their street from looters from the roofs and that two of three "bang-bang" later it was the quietest street in the town.
Is that right?
