Yes, there was chicken. It was ok. Typical freeze dried chicken. I was just hoping this would have been better.

I was at my local REI outdoors store this weekend checking out the clearance items and they had some (more like very few) Mountain House pre-packaged food on sale. I saw one of the Wraps filling pouches and since Chicken Salad sounded good, I figured I'll give it a shot and let the rest of you know.

I picked up a couple dozen Alpine Aire varieties during an Amazon sale late last year / early this year, so I'll be posting some reviews, soon. Your Chicken Salad inspired me to try the equivalent AA one, which worked out well.

First, just wanted to mention that REI has a 20% off sale on Mountain House entrees, and they'll even ship for free if the order is over $25. Most items were $5.19.
The sale runs thru May 30, 2011.

I picked up four in store earlier this week (they had a decent selection), and plan to do an online ship-to-me order after sampling some. This morning, I tried the Breakfast Scrambler, and it was very good (yes, I took pics!). I'll definitely be including more in my order.

It's only an REI special.
It's both online and in-store. I hate REI's stores (and honking parking lots), so usually shop online.

Treesuit, you mentioned that the MH "Chicken Salad" contains pumpkin seeds. Did you notice any taste of it? Just curious - I like pumpkin.

Guys, check your local Walmart's Sporting goods section. They carry Mountain House entrees and deserts at decent prices. At least you can avoid the S/H charges....

Oh yes, there were quite a bit of pumpkin seeds in that entree' and there was a slight taste of pumpkin in the mix. But I think it gave the chicken salad a more refined texture and taste that something that would stand out.

I don't mind pumpkin that much but the thought of pumpkin seeds in a salad doesn't appeal to me that much. I guess its an acquired taste.
