Re: Tsunami in Japan
The U.S. Forces' support for the stricken area of tsunami is large-scale.
We are very thankful.

All our family wish you, our Japanese fellows, all luck on earth!
I saw horrible, devastating pics at the news and being in the 2002 flood in east Germany, I keep my fingers crossed for you!

Just heared that the USS Reagan (and fleet) is going to supply up to 162.000 people with food and fresh water..
That's a heckload of MREs in my eyes..

Sure, someone may one day kill me with my own gun.
But they'll have to beat me to death with it because it's empty.
A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing.

Re: Tsunami in Japan
I am pleased to know our members from Japan are safe.
My heart goes out to all who lost family and friends in the earthquake or the ensuing tsunami.
I too am concerned about the nuclear power plants.......40 year old reactors were not meant to withstand an 8.9 quake let alone the over 200 quakes that have occurred in the past 48 hours.many of which were above a 6 in magnitude.
It also seems many are predicting this coming week to be full of big quakes in the ring of fire.
So those of you on the West Coast of North America, please be prepared.
Peace to all
Cali

Re: Tsunami in Japan
I'm happy to hear the members of this site that reside in Japan are okay. If there is anything I can do for you guys please let me know. I still have some military friends that are based over there. You and your entire country will be in my prayers.
Re: Tsunami in Japan
I just pray that they get the reactors under control before it turns a section of Japan into a Chernobyl like place.

Re: Tsunami in Japan
I'm impressed very much by the very big support to Japan from the world!
Re: Tsunami in Japan
We saw and still see so many davastating pictures from Japan in our news, we are talking daily about "you" and keep your country in our prayers!
Re: Tsunami in Japan
Hope our Japanese members are doing okay.
You know,
this is exactly why countries should have stockpiles of food for long term storage in warehouses at different spots for situations like this.

The entire nation has set many examples throughout this trajedy that could be constantly taught to our children in substitution for the non-values often forced upon them presently.
As to the stockpile issue, I'm having a bit of trouble believing that most private and public agencies (incl. governments) have not been afforded the financial opportunity to 'prepare' food and water-wise over time. Unfortunately, a long standing lack of leadership here in the U.S. both in non-profits and in the government agencies dependent on their 'help' has created a ticking time bomb preparedness-wise here that cannot and will not be remedied any time soon.
I am proud to hear that we are making a difference over in Japan at the moment and hope that the U.S. learns from this trajedy what can and cannot be done by governments to rebuild societies in the 21st century.
