Re: Looking for this...
I did not realize that the SVD was capable of attaching a bayonet to. I guess I just assumed that, it being a sniper weapon, the sniper would have to be in REALLY deep &^%$ to actually need to use a bayonet.
Re: Looking for this...
It also surprised me ....
a sniper rifle with a bayonet. I guess the russians like to keep things "old school"...
just in case.
The bayonet presented is what they call a "plum" bayonet due to its color. They also come in black.
Is made by Izmash for the AK-74's and they are very rare to get, an original soviet/russian that is.

It's a different way of thinking, actually. SVD or romanian PSL is not a really "sniper" rifle, is more a Designated Marskman rifle. It's a lightweight, precision semiautomatic rifle which use the same ammo as PK machine gun. In every squad of romanian army is an soldier armed with this gun, extendind his "range" beyond regular infantry range. The PSO-1 scope is very easy to understand, allowing fast training of a soldier. Also, is not accurate as bolt action rifle, but, with ordinary ball ammo have an 2.5 Minute of Angle precision, enough for a headshot at 100 m or center mass shot (chest) at 500.
I was a "puscas lunetist" (literally "scoped rifle-man") during my conscription in Romanian Marines (1997-1998) and I was trained to shot "targets of opportunity" - officers, NCOs, crew-served weapons teams, optical systems of IFVs/tanks, radar dishes, etc.
The bayonet is regarded as "last ditch weapon" because un-balance the weapon's barrell and degrade accuracy, and is used much more as an effective utility/survival knife (it's a good steel and solid construction, which cut food, pry open ammo cases, also cut wire and wood).
PS. Bypah, your request is noted, also I look for an Romanian AK bayonet for you. Without result, by now.

2.5 MOA?
A regular G3 does 1 MOA or less with NATO ball ammo (DM41 Weichkern (MG ball ammo), DM51 Weichkern (Rifle ball ammo) or DM111 Präzisionbeschuß ammunition (Precision ammo)

Sure, someone may one day kill me with my own gun.
But they'll have to beat me to death with it because it's empty.
A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing.

Re: Looking for this...
SVD's accuracy is degraded by two factors: 1. absolutely crappy ammo and 2. operating system: G3 have an roller delayed blowback (the bolt starts moving to reload AFTER the bullet left the barrel) and SVD is long-stroke gas operated (a big chunck of metal, namely gas piston, bolt carrier and bolt starts moving instantly when bullet pass the gas bleeding hole in the barrel, BEFORE bullet leave the barrel). But ammo is the most important factor. Using some 7N14 ammo (152 gr FMJ-BT bullet, special designed for SVD) or some carefully created handloads using bullets like Lapua D46 or Sieera MatchKing in 155 grs, SVD shrinks it's groups to 1.12 MOA, in par with US made M110.

Re: Looking for this...
The M110 (Basically a pimped up M1A NM or SNM) has subMOA accuracy (0.5MOA with M118 or M852 special purpose ammo) and has a gas piston system aswell.
It had to have 1.1 inch accuracy at 300 feet (1 MOA) both supressed and non supressed.
