As for cleaning the bag, try taking it a regular dry cleaning place and see if they will do it that way. I would not try and stick it in the washer/dryer.

Re: SLEEPING BAGS
The sleeping bag doesn't taper down at the end like the ones shown in that ad. It is flat from head to toe. I'm going to be looking into getting a compression stuff-sack for it when my money permits me to do so.Still, it's a neat piece of gear, and for as old as it is, it appears to be in near-mint condition. just smells like it's been stored a long time. you know, that "surplus store " smell. LOL. I will definately have the sucker dry cleaned, Treesuit. like i said, when i can get my hands on a camera, i'll post pics of it.

PanzerDivision666,
If you looking for a lightweight durable compression sack that "breathes" try www.kifaru.net . The are US company is CO and they make real good custom made sacks. I just bought one myself and I found out it compresses a NORTHFACE heavy sleeping bag down incredibly well and they have a locking system that holds the compression in place.

Re: SLEEPING BAGS
Thanks you all for sleeping bags intel, but someone want to share some information about foam matresses, to put UNDER the sleeping bag? I have 3 very good british made sleeping bags, but unforunately just a cheap and not-so-good foam matress. Any suggestions?

I´m using several:ak70g2 wrote:Any suggestions?
The Bundeswehr one:

Too thin, but folded it´s also the cushing material in your backpack
Army one:

OK to me, but bulky
Term-a-rest

as good as a regular foam one to me, but the valve can freeze at subzero.
My personal favourit for comfort and isolation is:

I´m so sorry they are out of service, but I used it at several winter excercises instead the regular ones and there is nothing giving you more comfort and isolation. I highy recommend this!

Very lightweight, very easily portable, not very comfortable: Bundeswehr Isomatte (Foldable, it's used as an back protector in your backpack)
Comfort? A thick Dutch 1980s roll-up foamroll.. but they cost about €25 these days.. if you can even still find them.
I have one since I was a little kid.. it's extremely durable.

Sure, someone may one day kill me with my own gun.
But they'll have to beat me to death with it because it's empty.
A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing.

The Bundeswehr one you'd wanted to use last summer, in Romania, but you forgot it at home?
