Combat Lifesaver Training
Re: Combat Lifesaver Training
I am in an organization, Olli. But I need some tips from a pro, to use when I can't waste time waiting for help. We don't have emergency helicopters at hand...
Thank you very much, anyway.

Ask popa instead
he's know a thing or two about medical skills.

Sure, someone may one day kill me with my own gun.
But they'll have to beat me to death with it because it's empty.
A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing.

There aren´t "one-fit-all" tips.ak70g2 wrote: to use when I can't waste time waiting for help. We don't have emergency helicopters at hand
Depends what specific happened to give you any advise. Also depends to the equipment you have at hand and your personal skills.
It would help a patient to give him an i.v. to support circulation, but that doesn´t work if you don´t have any at hand or don´t know how to do or if your pat. got a lung edema etc...
The worst of all is a cardiac arrest. Continue CPR! Never interrupt heart compressions! That´s the most important of all!

Norge, I have them all, mostly as pdf file. If you're intesrested (I have also many more), just send me a e-mail adress. Beside it, I have an swedish manual, called "Vintersoldat", I don't really understand it, but pictures are very self explanatory.

Not sure what the laws are like for you housil, but here in America, the "good samaritan" rules that once applied are now a good way to get sued. In other words, EMTs can be held legally responsible if they share or teach skills to non-EMTs and those non-EMTs respond to an accident and screw up. In most cases, an "ambulance chaser" (American slang for scum-bag variety lawyers) will try to talk the victim into suing the people who stopped to help them if there is a screw up. Of course if someone does not know what they are doing and tries to move a victim with a spinal injury, that is one thing but no two accidents are alike. In the 1950s the American Red Cross was pushing a nation-wide effort to qualify as many citizens as possible in standard and advanced first aid in the event of nuclear attack. Now-a-days, many folks are afraid to respond to accidents for fear of being sued.

@Norge: what is the box labelled "Bandage, muslin, triangular, com/cam..."?
@rationtin: you gave too much power to your lawyers and so on... Here in Romania, I can provide help, under the "good samaritan" law, CPR, so on, people will think about me "he did his best, the poor guy may die anyway". No one will sue me.

Not over here. Phew...rationtin440 wrote:Not sure what the laws are like for you housil, but here in America, the "good samaritan" rules that once applied are now a good way to get sued.

They can bring a charge against you if you don´t help - doesn´t matter to your skills. Everybody is able to spend *any* first aid.
If you are a non-pro and do something "wrong", nobody can sue nor punish you. They want to prevent that people stopp spending first aid - if right or wrong

The most wrong thing they can do is - doing nothing.
We allways encurouge bystanders to help, also we praise peolpes if they spent first aid to victims (even it was somewhat less than perfect)
If you join traffic school to make your drivers license, you *must* go to a first aid training (8hrs) first. Without that, you don´t get any drivers license.
What we don´t do that is comon in the US: "Telephone-CPR"
Our dispatchers don´t advise you at the telephone how to spend first aid.
There is not *one single* proven case - overe here!! - where a person got first-aid-spenders-caused-paralysing.rationtin440 wrote:to move a victim with a spinal injury, that is one thing
You are right, it´s obsolte to move them, but we know how to
