I found 8-meals out of the line of 24 meals that i would probably not use
except in emergency conditions.
In the mre's cases i recieved 48--frh and 48 hot Beverage bags
I Have a fair Supply of Mountain house freeze dried entrees
I Thought that i would give the new hot beverage bags a test
with the freeze dried items.
Looking at:
http://www.dscp.dla.mil/subs/support/sp ... /32176.pdf
I Was Not Sure If They Would hold up to the job at hand.
So I Decided to test them.
I Loaded a Standard hot Beverage bag with a single serve of
Mountain house Lasagna and 1-cup of room temperature water.
After removing all the air i sealed the bag and kneaded it till
it seemed mixed.
Damm..Those bags don't leak a bit.
I Let It Re-Hydrate for 5-minutes.
I Then Stuffed it in the frh and put the assembby in a mre entree box.
Just Like you would with a mre entree.
I added the required 1/8 cup of water to the heater and folded
the frh flap down into the cardboard entree box as specified.
I Let it cook 13-minutes and removed the lasagna Bag from the
frh.
It came out perfect.
No Damage to the hot Beverage bag.
And the food being Sealed while cooking was even better than
the recomended heating instructions.
It Appears the hot beverage bag is up to the task.
Damm..I'm going to have to use this one in the field
