Hi,
my neighbors were tidying their kitchen, they gave me a full box of old hardware "if you can use that for something..." spoons, forks, coffee pots, nothing very exciting but at the bottom : a handful of French p-38 style can openers from the old C and T rations of the 60-80's
I hadn't seen any during the last 25 years!
Funny isn't it?
I didn't know the French Army used the P-38 style of can opener? That and their version of C-rations or T-rats. Come to think of it I don't know what the Army really used back in the 60-80's. I can recall that during the first French Indochina war the French were supplied with alot of American aid especially up at Dien Bien Phu during the seige. I speculate they made have had some leftover C-rats or MCI's leftover from WWII or Korea. There were some French units that did serve with some US American Division's (i.e. 2nd Infantry Division).
Hi,
in January 1985 when we had the lowest cold record in the century (-40° C/F in Eastern France), the Army looked for anything available in stock and they supplied us with US Korea War padded jackets, caps and snow boots
