Ken, I bought the second one 8) !

Also have never seen that, that was the reason for buying, I guess it is scarce, usually Menu No. 9 is CHICKEN ALA KING from that very early MREs!

But see here:

You have to click on the link to see the picture! Here it is BEEF COOKED!?

That is pretty interesting guys seeing as how I never saw or heard of either one of those MRE's when I was in. I started eating MRE's in 1988 and I can only remember the awful Chicken Al A Thing that nobody would eat.

I like(d) it :D
I´m still mixing chicken fricassee with mushrooms, peas etc. to get a "Chicken a la King"-style dish (just add some worcestersauce  )

sorry to see that it was opened :( looks like it have been cut partly open by a knife.
i have never seen old mres split like that in the seal erea before,i had those that the
bag it self was britle. i have used to open the bad bags and keep the good ones
thats why i have a lot of stuff for display purpose(to many damaged bags)
but if you open it i would do this:i would make a display box with the bag and the items
from the inside and put it on the wall in the collection room :D
since its rare and hope that we would find more in mint condition :D :D

cheers ken :D

I don´t think that it was cut open with a knife, it really seems that the seam is torn :( , I also have never seen that before…

That’s a very good idea Ken, I have to think over it (if I will decide to open it, I will post pics of the contents of course) ! But I guess the chance to get another one in mint condition is very, very low…

Best regards

is there some way to re seal it? It only looks about 2-3 cms torn. :?:

You could use internal strip of thin card, put good glue on the card both sides, then pinch the bag shut with the card bracing it internally. If the top part of the tear could be split in 2 with a razor, you could put a paper template in. Careful operation but it could be done.

Simon, you are an MRE conservator, the only one over the world . Joking aside, your idea is very good, I guess that would work, but I don´t think that norge likes it, you know, he wants to see the contents  (I´m also curiuos  )
