2010 Menu 7 - Beef Brisket

Hey guys!

My shipment of MREs came in today, and the little lady and I where starving, so we decided to test out two new MREs we'd never had before.

Here you have:

Crackers
Oatmeal Cookie
Biscuit (not the cookie, an actual biscuit!)
Cocoa Beverage Powder
BBQ Sauce
Cheese Spread
Accessory Packet with BUTTER BUDS and Tea Mix
Toffee Rolls
FRH
Beverage Bag

One thing I quickly noticed is there where no matches included in the accessory packet!

So, lets start with the Beef Brisket itself...

It was quite soupy, but good chunks of beef in it..... smoky flavor was very pronounced, but not overwhelming.

Carrie said it was really really salty by itself, and tried it with the biscuit. That was really good.
Then she broke the biscuit up and put it in w/ the beef brisket, and that was the ticket. That was really really good!

The biscuit had a buttery flavor. it was thick, but softer and moister than one would think looking at it.

The oatmeal cookie is crazy good. Very strong brown sugar / cinnamon flavor, and buttery in a good good way.
Tastes better than most commercial cookies you buy at the store!

All and all, this was a really good MRE. I was pleased with the little tastes I had, and the little lady ate all of it.
We didn't break open the drink mix, bbq sauce, or the toffee rolls, simply because we know what those are like.

I highly recommend this one!

Whoa Robbie, that biscuit is a trip! Never seen one of those before.

So how was it? Similar to a Wheat Snack Bread, or was it sweeter?

Did you try the Butter Buds?

It was sweeter, and not as packed as the WSB.
Did not try the butter buds, probably should have, but it was buttery enough without it!

Great review! Never saw that biscuit before. Looks almost like hard-tack. Was it better or worse than the WSB?

Better. The WSB is really really packed. The biscuit was kinda like a compressed biscuit, but it kinda fell apart as you bit into it. It was really tasty tho!
