youtube has shown 2 links. one for inbound and one videolink which wasnt/isnt the same as the browser link.
since 2 weeks the videolink is shown no more.
and nearly every community, etc. works with the videolink. even firefox add ons wont work no more because THIS link is missing.
so i didnt know and i am wondering why the browser link works here... :?:

thanks for helping
Did you mean that youtube won't show a link? Or that the forum won't make the player embed in your post?

Hopefully these will arrive this week and I can do a review and get some decent images up on here.

Or if you're brave enough and possess the resources to do so, you could film some raw footage of it and I could edit it for you if you'd like.

Sadly I don't have a video camera, so stills is as good as it will get I'm afraid.

I ordered these direct from Vestry Foods, who manufacture them, and the amount I paid for P&P was quite hefty I was hoping they'd be here by now. Saying that ration packs aren't very light for their size...

Well, these rations arrived today. I've had a look through both the MCR Menu 18 and the day ration Menu 7, I must say I'm not impressed. Now I know when we normally buy rations there is every chance something will be missing or different, but that's part of the deal when it comes to buying surplus kit from third parties, but when you buy direct from the Manufacturer/packer then I'd expect better.

This is what I should have got:
1 x All Day Breakfast*
1 x Ham Tomato Flavour Noodle*
1 x E Cherry
1 x O Orange Cranberry
1 x Raspberry Water Flavour
1 x Choc Chip Cake
1 x Apple/Peach
1 x Green Chicken Curry
1 x Pilau Rice
1 x Tabasco Red
1 x Fruit & Nut
1 x Strawberry Castus*
1 x Caramel
1 x Jam Sandwich (Sh'bury)*
1 x Mint Hot Chocolate
The item marked by a * I didn't get but got sent something different instead.

The whole reason I picked this menu out of the other 20 is because it was the only one that didn't have fish or paella in it. Guess what I got...a pouch of Western Tuna Pasta in place of the noodles and sausages and beans in place of the all day breakfast. The other thing missing was matches, in the extended list here it says matches, I didn't get any.

Aside from the above the everything does seem of a high standard, including the spoon!

No more "MOD USE ONLY - NOT FOR RESALE" but instead the "British Army Brand", for civvies only of course, hell know's what the RAF, Royal Navy and Royal Marines think.

I have to be honest here, I think the MoD has made a mistake with these menus. There has been talk of 'menu fatigue' and yeah I think there is too, but I think the MoD should have extended what they have at the moment instead of wasting time and money putting these together. However at the end of the day if they have arrived at these menus by asking serving personnel what they would like in ration packs, and this is it, then that's fine. I hope it's exactly what they wanted.

Its a flawed concept. They should have improve the mains, not turned the thing into a glorified jamboree bag.
Wheres the tea? Wheres the biscuits brown and f/f? Stupid chemical drinks nahh, no substitute.
Crap.

I wonder if the troops are actually being heard. I remember in that video about the new rations, the military presenter was saying how the rations were commercially produced and had feedback cards. It would seem like these even less military rations than the previous model.

The other thing I noticed is that the rations in the green pouches have a Danish address on, but are in fact made in Thailand. Lowest bidder eh.....

Are they actually going to use that container in the field??
Why not use just use a KFC bucket for a 5 in 1 version?

The same effect could have been achieved with muted more terrain adaptable colours, like green and buff, beige, hell they could have made a good job of it if they had thought about the camouflage aspect.
Also why not a rep from the army, navy RAF and marines all scoffing in the pic? I agree with the posted above on that.
Why not rename it the MOD universal ration or UR.
Vestey foods started out as a buthchers chain Dewhurst here in the UK, by a "colourful" personality called lord Vestey.
I still think the contents balance is wrong though. Just lighten up and improve the mains, BRING BACK TEA  and provide a really good breakfast selection. The US can create retort egg dishes why cant we?
Pouch breead also could have been introduced.
And how about a FRH of some type??
Sorry but this ration has ticked me off. Its lowest bidder, coupled with muddled thinking. Grrrrr!
