Nut Roll In Can-Is This B&M Bread In A Can?

Post by crunchie » Sat Mar 20, 2010 9:10 am

I have been reading about the C-rats and there was a product referred to as Nut Roll in a can. Basically pastry in a can.

Recently at a supermarket that I stopped in at I discovered B&M Bread in a can. it's a kind of molasses bread in a can that you open with a can opener.

Is this the same company that made the C-rats nut roll and other bread products in a can for rations?

Was molasses bread or the B&M style bread in the canned rations?

Thanks,

crunchie

I dunno who made them, but the nut roll was more of a coffee cake than bread.
The B&M breads wern't in C-rats IIRC.
And they Do have a unique flavor... I like them, my wife hates the molasses flavor!
But it's just about the only canned bread in the US.... I don't know of any other.

Crunchie,

Funny you should ask this question. MREDEPOT.com has some of the canned cakes/breads on their website. They claim to sell the cakes in a can from the same manufacturers that made the C-ration cakes back in the days i.e. the C-rations pound cake. Unfortunately I don't know who made the chcolate nut roll but I would venture a guess that one of the companies that made that cake might still be around. It's worth a search over to their website or some Internet search.
