€1,72 per liter (95 octane) is $8.87/USGallon and Germany is 5 to 15 cents cheaper then the Netherlands.. but more expensive with Diesel (diesel costs about €0,30 liter less then Euro 95.. but the cars cost a lot more + car tax and is more expensive in Germany..)

And you guys are crying about expensive gas?
Sure, someone may one day kill me with my own gun.
But they'll have to beat me to death with it because it's empty.

Huge country, public transportation only in urban areas, long way to anywhere...
I think we have to burn more gas than euro 's
I myself drive ~ 250 miles a week to work, no other way to get there!

I have to drive 50km in the morning, 50km in the evening.. making 500km per week.. that's 310 miles.

The only difference is that I drive a volkswagen polo 6n.. that does 17km per liter at the highway, up to 20km per liter at long stretches of "landstreets"

And public transportations costs €€€€€€€€€€€.. a bus to the station (45min walk.. about 5km) costs €2.40.. (single trip..)

The only difference is that you guys drive large, heavy, inefficient gas guzzlers..
Most of us europeans are forced to drive small, light, efficient, gay looking minicars..

 you just ruined my stereotype american

Last time I was driving 260km/h on the German autobahn.. doing 1 MPG..
But then I woke up and realised I drive a 1994 Polo..

No but without joking, you guys are really lucky.
You have cheap cars, cheap gas, cheap houses, (a home for $250.000.. lol? .. You pay €300.000 for a city block home), I pay €164 per month on my health insurance (required by law..)

I still haven't got a clue how those "poor americans" on TV manage to get into large debts..
We make some more money then you guys, but still.. we are forced to spend it a lot more

Lets see...
$250 k house @ 6% = $1400 per month
Cars, 2 k for a junker, $100 k for a mercedes.
Health insurance = I pay $300 per month, my employer pays $1700...
$3 gas
What we don't have is socialized anything, which is why the taxes are so low here.
I don't know for a fact, but I suspect thats the reason everything is much more expensive in europe.
Subtract all the taxes and import duties, VAT etc and see what you could be paying...
Cradle to Grave socialism costs!!!
