yes, the Spanish Legion has always had pets. The most famous is the goat

also have or have had sheep and monkeys. even say that the first pet was a chicken dressed in full uniform (which was very difficult for their keeper to keep it alive in the African wars)

and pets are usually very martial. in that video can be seen parading a goat perfectly at the touch of the cornet



a story that a friend told me old gentleman Legionnaire (Legionnaires have title of gentleman):
where he served on the flag (flag = battalion) had a small pet monkey dressed in the uniform characteristic legionnaire, and this monkey had the honorary degree of "Colonel" :shock: !. when he passed a legionnaire "Colonel" the legionnaire greeted him militarily and the monkey responded to the greeting line carrying his hand to his forehead!

but ... if not a legionnaire saw the little colonel and saluted him not .... were heard to bite! :roll: :mrgreen:
