First Strike Rations for sale on UK EBAY!!
Re: First Strike Rations for sale on UK EBAY!!
Hello guys,
Just to stick my oar in.
Firstly, I *think* there is an agreement between the US Gov and the suppliers (Sopakco etc etc) not to ship the milspec rations direct to the US (civilian wise), thats why they built their own clear bag version to differentiate the product from the US milspec version. This is from conversations between various people and I don't know 100% its a fact. But from my experience this rings true. I have a feeling this might be a gentlemens agreement between the companies and the Gov. *EDIT* I just read what Fman wrote.
Secondly, the FSR's I sourced are 'proper' FSR's. And definately 100% not stolen from a front line unit, no soldier is going to go hungry because we took their food. Besides Iraq or Afghanistan is a bit of a trek from here. Thats one of the reasons I don't sell UK rations, not because I can't get any. Its just because, unlike the US, UK has only one real manufacturing plant thats running at full stretch to cope with the demand.
Thirdly, I have been in conversation with Sopakco and also the deadly US and UK customs to get some rations into the UK that are fresh from the factory. OK most of them might only be civ spec (and vegetarian!!) but they will be over here for the enjoyment of all.

Nice one.
Can I ask if you are planning on stocking the 9 menus of FSR or sticking with the original 3?
Also the 'pouch, patrols' you sell (Pack And Go?) - is that what's included in GB Arctic rations and freeze-dried (i.e. LRRP) rations?

ileonc can answer the other questions but as for which menus he might be stocking, there are only three menus right now, not nine. We found a posting on Natick's website that looked like they had announce nine menus but it appears that posting was an accident and they have since removed it. So we're back to just three menus for the FSRs.
Re: First Strike Rations for sale on UK EBAY!!
Ah okay, thought it was going to nine but no dramas.
Seeing as they are only meant for 'the first 72hrs of an op' anyway, it doesn't really make sense to have more than 3 menus for 3 days. You're not going to get menu fatigue that way, and if you're scoffing for longer in the field presumably thats where MREs or field kitchens and 'fresh' come into it.

For that, I ship you one of mine if you pay s&h...

Re: First Strike Rations for sale on UK EBAY!!
Well, I did say in another post that I thought FSRs could sell for as high as $50 on eBay. Then again, I was really talking about if you started the bid at $10 and then people would get crazy to buy one and the bidding might shoot up that high. It'll be interesting to see if that auction sells for a starting price of $50.
BTW, I don't know for sure, but the eBay seller (pc1149) sounds like one of the members here.

Hmmm... this auction raises an interesting question... What should a single FSR cost on auction?
A case of standard MREs are approx $50 at most trade shows. A single MRE is therefore $5.
Since this is so rare at the moment, it is almost tempting. Then again, I could get either a British 24 pack or a French RCIR for the same amount (which would include shipping).

Some guy in Texas has one FSR on Ebay right now. Wants $50 for it, + $10 shipping. Somebody asked him how many he had to sell, and if he'd take $65 for 2. He said No. Ebay #270488434831, auction till 27 November.

After the Chicken and the Egg, came the "Omelet"!

DangerousDave, that looks like the same auction laughing_man linked us to above.
