The Long Range Patrol (LRP or LRRP) rations have been around definitely since Vietnam. But the LRP you see in the picture was the old style used (I'm guessing) in the 60s and 70s.
The newer LRPs (the ones on the web page) were redesigned just the Ration, Cold Weather was redesigned into the Meal, Cold Weather. In fact, the new LRP and MCW are the same ration just with different bag colors.
