The first thing is that to be a REAL military issue,ALL of the components packets have a stylized soviet/russian red star.
Check the posted pics...
well БУРАН, the one pablo_fiasco got was a civilian EDI-P. It had the old thermal printed label with the ИРП-П writing on it and was missing items, as well as had commercial items. only the drink packages and such had the green with red star packaging, everything else was practically commercial.

I wrote to the sovietarmystuff.com people and I hope they can do something about it.

btw here's pablo_fiasco's review

Well, shit. This might be a disappointment.

I emailed "Soviet Army Stuff" and asked them to ship an IRP-B. I guess we'll see.

I might be wrong though, I emailed that kid who did the first English review of the ration and asked him where he got it. It could be that sovietarmystuff.com ships any rations they come across, so you might get a commercial civilian one or maybe an air force ration.

If you guys would like to help me get sovietarmystuff.com to sell the IRP-B's then join the forum and find my thread under the same username in the propositions forum and post an interest.

Hmm, interesting I was talking to sovietarmstuff on skype and they wanted to know if I wanted exactly an IRP-B and I said yes with all the military labels and such. So maybe they will take a few special orders for us ration folk. I'm gonna try to also get a РПЭСВ since they are so rare.

Well, my ration from "SovietArmyStuff" arrived yesterday and it is the one pictured on their website.

This is not really an "Original Russian Army Military Soldier Food Ration", correct? I thought I was ordering an IRP-B.

The pudding cup had crushed and opened in transit, and a few crackers are broken, but it is otherwise in good shape.

Wow, the same exact thing happened to Pablo...I wonder if the russians know about it. But yes you don't have an IRP-B you have the civilian version.

I had to speak personally to the sovietarmystuff.com skype account and its going to cost me about 75$ since it is a special order.

Tell me, what did they mark on the box in terms of customs?

I wanted to throw out the burst pudding, so I took a photo first. The packaging isn't very good, with brittle plastic. Luckily, it hadn't smeared onto any of the other items in the container and it didn't smell. I didn't want to eat any, but I believe it is half-chocolate and half vanilla.

The ration shipped in a plain brown box without any Customs forms on it. Just my address, his address, and a bunch of colorful stamps. No padding inside the box, so the corners were slightly mashed.

I can't complain about getting this ration, I suppose, since it is pictured clearly on their site. Their describing it as a real Russian Army ration is not cool, though.

Hey.. I know those!

They sell exactly the same packages in Poland, only with different text on them. It's not Vanilla/Chocolate.. it's like nutella with somesort of a mystery flavour (might be vanilla.. might be from the used dairy)
You guys probably don't know Nutella.. but all the European people here will..

It's an haselnut/ chocolate spread.. tastes great from nutella.. don't really like the eastern counterpart :(
Sure, someone may one day kill me with my own gun.
But they'll have to beat me to death with it because it's empty.
