Advice on sale value of 1992 MREs

Post by biscuits brown » Fri Aug 21, 2009 8:03 pm

Just wondering what an individual 1992 menu MRE would roughly sell for?
I have almost a full case, that I bought about 4 years ago, from frontierandsurvival.
I have eaten the BBQ pork and rice :D and everything was holding up brilliantly.
Also the meatballs with rice in tomato sauce :D :D again, everything was great, even the charms were edible, and tasted, though very soft
Ive still got half the chicken a la king, (entree unopened)
The rest is there, in original box.
The MREs are marked RIGHT AWAY FOODS CORPORATION - McALLEN, TEXAS 75801 and are the chocolate coloured bags.
If they are not worth too much, I may consume the whole case (whats left) and post them as reviews
But I also just want to keep them :? Oh the humanity!
Any comments welcomed.

BTW, I was working from Kmans definitive MRE menu list by year, and it seemed to fit with the 92 menu, although it could be 93 but I dont think 94?
I will post the carton content when I have a moment. :)

Better post the 4 digit markings and we can tell you even the day of production

There are two lines on the side of the box containing numbers, both with 4 digit sequences:
8970-00-149-1094
DLA13H-90-C0886

The first line is the NSN.

Look for:

Date packed at the case

Newer cases:

looking like this. The number here is 8214 (2008, 214th day (=Aug 2nd))

Every pouch has the same pack code
Image
2363 (= 2002, 363rd day (= Dec. 29th))

Image
5084 (2005, 84th day (= March 25th))

You see?

Yep

Date packed 1031 = 1991 (why not 2001?! Because they are brown and not tan!) 31st day = Jan 31st
Inspection date is allways pack date + 3 years (except FSR, 2 years only)
