I could probably last just over a week maybe two if I strech it out.

I've got

4 British packs
1 FSR
1 Pack and go ration pack (3 meals)
about single 10 British meals,
about 10 MRE entres (deserts and meals)
2 EPA meals
2 dutch meal
1 Norweigan breakfast pack.
Mixed box of MRE parts and 10 packs of British Biscuits (5 fruit and 5 brown) plus other random ration items.

I've only got 5 litres of water stored though so I need to get some more.

Well, lets see...
This is for two of us...
Two weeks of MRE's
another two weeks of freeze dried stuff in big cans. Yuck !
Then there's at least a month of canned and dried commercial food.
However, If we were realistic, the MRE's would last longer, at two per person/per day, which is more likely. We don't need 3600 calories a day...
So, 2-3 months, if no-one takes it away from us............
I keep about 30-40 gallons of water on hand, and have a water filter too.

That was my thinking Dirtbag, 3600 is if your using a lot of energy, in a SHTF situation I doubt I will be so they would last me a lot longer. Including canned food I could probably go for just under a month on my own. Just need to get water to match that.

I could probably make 2 years with moderate physical activity and no supplementing my diet with wild animals or home grown vegetables.

43 cases of freeze dried and dehydrated in #10 cans
4 cases MRE
3 cases CWR
10 lbs beef jerky
canned bread
canned cheese
40lbs white rice
Ghi, shortening, oil for cooking
about 70 pouches of mountain house entrees

The sad thing is that I am going to eat better after SHTF than I do now as a single guy! I NEVER cook steak and pork chops, lasagna, sloppy joes etc.

Sorry to revive a thread from a while back but haven't been around for awhile!

Lets see, what do I have:

3x Brit 24hrs broken down in my daysack/bergen ready to go

3x Brit 24hrs boxed complete on my shelf :p
3x US FSRs, ditto

Also some odds and sods from old rations - I take out the brew kit, soup and pudding when I'm going in the field (although if everything went tits up and I was holed up/escape and evading from Zombies in the bleak midwinter I'm sure they'd get brought along and munched as well), so I have a lot of those things hanging around the back of the cupboards at home, as well as the stuff I don't really like - tuna anyone? :p

Although thats only officially 9 days worth above, I'm willing to bet it could be stretched to 14 days, maybe more. Theres a lot of food in 24hr packs particularly which I don't eat even if working hard.

Now I will try and get hold of some of the new Brit MCRs, a few MREs and maybe some EPAs or the 10 man rations from Vestey foods that someone posted a link to - enough food for a small army if societal collapse/zombie invasion takes place

I pulled off about 1 month with 8 cases MRES by the formula.
I reality probably about 2 months plus I have about 2 boxes of odds and ends like cheese, crackers, individual meals, cookies, coffee, tea, plenty of accessory packets. Thats if I want to eat the 3 full meals a day.
I guess given a situation like a sudden emergency I would try to make things last even longer. I would shoot for 3 months for one person.
Also need to have bottled water.
Have another box with tooth paste, asprins, cough med, band aids, night lights etc and rotate frequently, optional shelter.
Main issue if an emergency arose would be surviving with no electricity or public water/gas.
The other thing I have considered is if you have all your storage in house and it burns down, then your out of luck.
A second location would be good.
I was thinking about looking into some #10 cans for backup also, but once you open that you have to keep eating that or it will go bad in time.
I dont know the details on shelf life after opening the #10 cans. Your input is welcome on that.
POTTED MEAT! A FAVORITE! Eat too much and you get THE GOUT!

About 6 months, but that's on 2 MRE's a day, as 3 would be too many calories IMHO.

In addition, we stock canned goods and freeze dried cans and pouches. In all, we could possibly make it last 1 year.

We have a monthly budget set aside for preps, including food, which allows for "dollar cost averaging".

We camp alot, so the oldest food is constantly being used, and fresher food is always being added to the supply.

@ sag45 and scottymonger

Do you store all that stuff for just to have it (like we do over here) or is it as you have such devastating hurricanes and tropical storms etc. over there and really may need it?

We made some "investments" to become "independent" from public delivery (electricity, water...), just for in case of...

I also bought some Bundeswehr 20ltrs. water (jerry) cans and keep them closed and clean. Also I have some water emergency rations...

why dont you just store the 6pack 1,5 liter water bottles which you can get in every store for 1 euro??? its much easier and the water is rationed to 1,5 liter each.... :?: thats the way i store the most water for emergencys. in the best times (mostly summer) i store around 100 bottles of it.
