New British Menus (2007/08)
Re: New British Menus (2007/08)
Gaz,you're right.Indian food is not as common as in the UK. Remember India was the jewel of the British empire
.Here is more common to see either chinese restaurants or mexican restaurants specially if you're in the southwest closer to the US-Mexico border...

Re: New British Menus (2007/08)
Heh, I eat Indian food all the time, there are at least 4 good restaurants within 15 miles of me. It's just that in general our populace still hasn't really gotten the idea that Indian food is as awesome as it is. I bought some of the Indian MREs they have from the epicenter, but I haven't tried them yet, but I eat the boxed indian food all the time which I suspect is 99% the same since it's all retort packed anyway. I just wish there was a more ethnic flair to the US MREs other than a somewhat mexican/southwestern influence, and even that is pretty sad sometimes. Those enchiladas, while not horrible, are NOT enchiladas. Or, I guess I'm a Tex-Mex food whore so they'll never be right to me so I can't be won over. They used to try for chinese type food, like the chow mein which you don't really see anymore.
I guess I could make my own Indian MRE since they have MRE tortillas which are close enough to naan and I have plenty of retort Indian food.. some white rice..

Yo BigMark...if you end up trying one of those Epicenter Indian MRE entrees, can you post up a review? I'm really curious to see if they're any good. Thanks.
Re: New British Menus (2007/08)
The retort Indian items that BigMark mentioned may be a better alternative. You should be able to find those not only in ethnic Indian groceries, but also in mainstream supermarkets like Safeway (or Von's in your neck of the woods) and Trader Joe's. As mentioned they are retort packed just like the MREs and I've found that the ones from the Indian groceries tend to have a bit more spice to them, and they cost less. The retort business in India is much broader in the consumer space than it is in the U.S. and pretty common as a grocery staple.

any of you could teach me a photograph of rations produced in 2008, of its content?
ration are numbered from 1 to 10, no menu letters. I searched the forum but did not get to see a picture of the exact composition of the rations for that year.
or suggest a place to see
I have seen your composition here, but I like to have a photo with all the ingredients together
