FSRs and German Customs

Post by schliepich » Wed May 27, 2009 4:58 am

Hi everyone,

I'm interested in buying FSRs from armyrations.co.uk but I wonder if I'm getttng in trouble with the German Customs.
I read in some topics that they "rape" the packages because of cheese, or beef or something if its not from the EU.
Since the package is produced in USA, but shipped from UK, is there there a chance of running in problems with this ?
Did anyone experienced something like that ?

I've heard a couple of guys in Germany who got multiple cases through German Customs with no problem. But then there were the two cases of APacks (civilian MREs) that I sent housil in Germany...

Two different sets of German Customs people tore through that cases and eventually rejected it...saying it contained "19 kg of cheese" (41 lbs.). Yeah...that's right...those MREs were nothing but solid blocks of cheese.

But maybe since that shipment was from outside of the EU countries, they gave it special attention.

@schliepich: Whatch at N24 the report about airport customs. They say that 70% of all food shipments entering EU are rejected to sender or will be dumped. (But most of them from Asia and I would dump most of it even if they weren´t prohibited)

UK is a member of EU, nobody cares about food parcel inside EU
To my experience, I can highly recommand armyrations.co.uk! Very fast and reliable transaction, very friendly (and German speaking) staff. Go ahead

Unfortunately armyrations.co.uk won't ship to the USA, :x Even though FSR's are made in the US! Does anybody have a good idea of how we can get around this?

Treesuit, unfortunately, the only way I've found around it is to have someone in the UK or *Germany* buy some and then ship them to you. Yes, this does cause shipping to go up almost 1.5x what would have already been expensive overseas shipping, but that site is the only game in town right now for FSRs.

If we can get enough support from our fellow members, and someone wants to handle the logistics, a group buy might be a shot.

Now that would be interesting... Splitting the cost of overseas shipping across a bunch of us would probably defer the per unit cost quite a bit.
