Visit to Oslo, Norway

Post by aquarius » Fri May 15, 2009 11:32 am

Coming week I will be 3 days in Oslo for a conference. On Wednesday May 20 after 13.00 hrs I have some time for my own.
Could any of the Norwegian collectors on this forum tell me if there are some Army/Navy stores in Oslo, or maybe an Outdoor shop?
My special interest is in rations and camo hats.
Hope to hear from you.
Greetings, aquarius

Thanks Norge!!
Luckily the weather forecast for Oslo is okay for the coming week, so I probably will do a little bit of shopping in Oslo.
And I will take a few bottles of alcoholic beverage to Norway, because I'm told that the prices of booze are extremely high.
Well, thansk again for sharing the info.

Holy cow, drinks are very expensive here in Norway!
I took only 1 liter of booze with me, and I wasn't checked at the Norwegian border.

As far as I can judge by only seeing a very small part of Oslo, Norway is a beautiful country with lots of woods, lakes and fjords.
But most amazing is the enormous quantity of blond & beautiful women! Wow!!

Unfortunately I'm attending a conference, and I am confined to my hotel. Wednesday however will be different.

Final report about Oslo (I returned in the meanwhile to Holland):

The Top Secret Army Shop wasn't there anymore. Empty windows.
The Pentagon Shop had nothing special to offer (a lot of gothic style stuff).

XXL had a large collection of affordable DryTech main entrees (49 NOK = +/- 5 Euro). So I bought a few and also a "REAL TURMAT", with Frokost-Lunsj-Middag. (cereal-lunch-dinner)
Price was 199 NOK.
It contains:
- Frokost (cereal),
- Lapskaus (beef and casserole),
- Storfegryte (beef stew),
- energy chocolate,
- coffee (no sugar/milk),
- foldable cup,
- hughe Spork.
(+ a small brochure).
All contained in a cardboard box.

Haven't tasted it yet.

Oslo is a nice city, with beautiful surrounding. Although Oslo is not very spectacular from any point of view. It has not very much architectural or cultural high lights. But it is clean and inhibited with friendly people. It also has a nice Army Museum.
As far as I have seen Norway, it is an extremely beautiful country, which I have to visit more often.

Just went to their website http://www.drytech.no
Is interesting .They say all their rations are made without any preservative or nitrites.....only vitamin c as an additive.

Holy Cow,

That civilian ration looks like one I got from Norge a while back. I haven't tried myself just yet. Just waiting for a excellent moment or excuse.
