Holiday In Belgium

Post by Garron » Thu Mar 19, 2009 9:00 am

Hey Guys

Last week I was away in Belgium visiting the WW1 Battlefield around the town of Ypres

Heres just a quick selection of pictures I took. I'll try and give a description as best I can.

Ypres Town centre by Night, the building very well lit up is the Cloth Hall it was nearlt destroyed in the war and rebuilt exactly the same as it was pre-war

There was a fair in town so excuse the burger bar next to it.

Our camp site, with the huts we stayed in, nicknamed Cuckoo clocks because of thier size and shape, they were very cheap to rent so we didnt mind.

Gaz...
Impressive pictures. Is good to se that they keep the memory of the fallen in WWI alive.
My grandpa fought in Europe in WWII and he used to tell me stories about the different places he visited that were related to WWi. I even have some WWI memorabilia including some german Iron crosses.
Peace!

I also went to France for a day trip (It was only 45 minutes away)

This is some of a gentlemans collection, all found or dug up by him or friends who have donated it to him.

The French gentleman also had this tucked away in his garage

Even with the tight streets of Ypres town centre someone still manages to drive a hummer around

Once I gather my friends pics together I'll post them too as some days we split up and did our own thing.
