It looks like at least one of the guys on eBay who has a huge stock of MREs is trying to get rid of them all. Check out his latest auction:
48 CASES(ONE PALLET) MILITARY MRE'S CAMPING HUNTING
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0353966803
Here's a copy of the auction:

- Pallet o' MREs Auction
For buying 48 cases at once, that pricing isn't that great. He wants $1920 for 48 cases of 2007 MREs ($40/case) or $2250 for 2008 MREs ($47/case).
I wonder if he's feeling the heat from people looking into his auctions or if he's just getting tired of selling them one or two cases at a time on eBay?

Who knows. I'm about to give up on ebay sellers. Sure there are deals to be had and good ones too, but it seems like every seller I send a message to doesn't respond or takes days to do so. All I want are a couple of cases at a decent price. I guess I'll just go ahead and place an order with armygear.net. The sellers on ebay had their chance.

i guess the most relevant question here is - where the F does a private seller get ahold of that many MREs?
to get that quantity of genuine MRE i thought you had to be affiliated with the federal government somehow.
gone are the days you could buy a few pallet loads of "surplus" gov issue MREs form SOPAKO and the like correct?
i mean the members on the board here couldn't do a group buy of a pallet of genuine MREs from any of the
MRE contract winners right?

Dekard,
You have that right - where the heck are these guys getting their MREs? Sopakco/Ameriqual/Wornick don't let you buy them from them direct and some of these MREs are too new for them to be genuine surplus (I'm guessing on that last part).
But this is also way too many MREs for the type of CajunClara/CajunAngel deal we've seen in the past where she says she buys them up from service members. I don't know...it just looks like a tractor-trailer load of MREs went "missing" and ended up in a few eBay seller's hands. That's a real shame if that's the case but I figure the DoD will crack down on it soon.

I don't think that quantity but you still can get couple of fresh boxes from somebody you know in the service.....
The only problem...shipping.... ouch!!
Peace!

beaumont texas is only about 150 miles from Galveston - my guess is these mres are related to the relief effort for Galveston from the last big hurricane that went thru down there.
this guy has prob a hookup with some relief agency down there and that's where he got all these mres. makes sense that the feds would stock the relief supplies outside of the impacted area.

There's a couple of auctions from Southern Louisiana. Probably relief supplies from last years hurricanes. I tried to arrange pick up but no one was having it. Delivery should be around $10 but they are charging double and triple.

There's a person in Georgia selling 2008 (current) MREs but they were asking $30 shipping per case. I asked them if they'd offer reduced shipping since I live closer to them and they dropped the shipping charge down to actual price!
